What Does it Involve?
As a Lead Support Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining high-quality support, mentoring support workers, and ensuring individuals are supported in achieving the outcomes identified in their personal support plans. You will assist the Locality Manager and Assistant Locality Manager in promoting Dimensions' values and standards, ensuring compliance with contracts, policies, and CQC/CSSIW regulations. This role is all about helping individuals live their best lives while leading and coaching your team to deliver outstanding support.
Core Duties Include:
- Understand the needs of the individuals you support, maintain accurate records, and be a role model of good practice. You’ll help set and achieve goals in key areas of their quality of life using the Activate approach.
- Promote a culture where every moment has potential. Help people learn the skills they need to live independently, from personal care to shopping, meal prep, and household tasks.
- Organise stock control and complete medication and finance audits.
- Perform radar tasks and ensure all health and safety protocols are followed.
- Lead the induction and training of new staff, and coach them on best practices. You’ll provide meaningful feedback, supporting the wider team to meet individual needs.
- Be the key contact for families, professionals, and the wider support circle, ensuring excellent communication and coordination.
- Support individuals by attending medical appointments and ensuring their health needs are met.
- Participate in reviews and work towards improving practice, ensuring a high standard of support is maintained.
What You Need:
- Previous experience in a senior or lead support worker role in social care.
- Strong understanding of person-cantered support, health & safety, medication management, and support planning.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to mentor, coach, and develop staff.
- A proactive approach, with a positive, can-do attitude, able to handle challenges confidently.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development, including gaining relevant qualifications.
