We’re looking for a new Locality Manager (Area Service Manager) to join our team, report into the Operations Director taking responsibility for the day to day running of our services. The person that you will be supporting is a young man in his 30s who is autistic; he is chatty, talented, loving and caring.  He can be funny, compassionate and very intelligent. His interests include using his computer, letter writing, volunteer work, holidays and swimming.

Due to the nature of this position it is essential that all applicants have BSL skills up to level 3 and be willing to work towards level 6.

About the role

  • Ensure person-centred care plans and health action plans are regularly reviewed and implemented.
  • Work alongside the Dimensions Behaviour Consultant and other professionals to implement Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Ensure the health and wellbeing of the people we support, in line with CQC/CSSIW Guidelines and Dimensions' policies.
  • Deliver effective risk assessments and emergency plans to ensure the people we support are safe.
  • Make sure your staff team are appropriately trained and motivated to provide high quality support.
  • Ensure the service meets all organisational and statutory requirements and complies with Care Quality Commission Guidelines and our own standards, policies and procedures.
  • Make sure complaints are dealt with in line with our policies.


About you

Most importantly, you want to make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and or autism. To do that, you’ll have:

  • A strong background in working with adults with Autism and learning disabilities and behaviour that challenges who have lived in secure and hospital placements.
  • Experience of managing supported living services or similar - and be familiar with performance management processes.
  • Up to date knowledge of the personalisation agenda and Active Support.
  • Completed, or be willing to undertake, Management Development training.
  • Have BSL skills up to level 3 and be willing to work toward level 6.
  • Experience of supporting people who are deaf and managing staff who are deaf.

Beyond those qualities, you’ll also be:

  • An excellent communicator, looking to mentor and motivate your team to provide person-centred support.
  • Able to prioritise your workload, delegate tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Focused on the needs of internal and external customers, from the people we support, right through to your team and other members of the organisation.
  • Good knowledge of the Transforming Care Programme.
  • Have experience of supporting staff members to manage stress and burnout and ways to support the health and wellbeing of staff members at work.
  • Experience of working in partnership with families.
  • Enjoy IT and able to use phones, computers, tablets etc.
  • Have a problem solving mentality.
  • Have a good understanding of PBS Support.
  • Have a good understanding of Autism.
