Experienced Support Worker - British Sign Language 

£10.56 per hour

Part-time, 28 hours per week

Kenton, Newcastle

Previous experience is essential and you must have, or be willing to work towards, British Sign Language Level 1


Who will I be supporting? 

  • A young man in his 20s who has autism and can experience behaviours of distress 
  • This young man is deaf so it's essential that his support team are able to communicate with him via British Sign Language (you must have or be willing to work towards British Sign Language Level 1) 
  • He likes to be out and about and loves to visit B&Q, hang out in the café at Morrison’s or spend the day shopping in Darlington 
  • He's currently living at home with his family and will soon move in to his first supported living home in Kenton 

What will I be doing? 

  • You will be supporting him to live his life how he chooses, to be himself, and to achieve his goals 
  • He requires support with meal preparation, medication administration, budgeting, cooking, cleaning and laundry
  • He can complete his own personal care needs with some friendly prompts and encouragement

What shifts are available? 

  • Shifts are likely to be day shifts from 8am – 10pm 
  • He will also be supported by our existing waking nights team 
  • Rotas are provided 4 weeks in advance
