Churwell/Morley
This is a complex service and is better suited to experienced Support Workers
Dimensions are one of the country’s largest not-for-profit organisations and we are driven by our values. People with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do.
We will soon be supporting a young lady in her late 20s who has complex needs in the Churwell/Morley area and we’re looking for resilient, empathetic, and non-judgemental people to join her fabulous new support team!
This young lady has a learning disability, a personality disorder, and a forensic history. She loves being around animals and hopes to volunteer as a dog walker and own her own cat in the near future. She also really enjoys PlayStation and Nintendo Switch games and will often seek your advice on how she can get to the next level! She’s a very sociable and chatty person and likes to be out and about and getting involved in a range of activities.
Transitioning to Dimensions will be a big change for this young lady and it’s likely that she will display behaviour that others may find challenging. We’re looking for Support Workers with previous experience of challenging behaviour, or people who are committed and willing to learn, so that we can support her in the best way possible.
She is independent when it comes to her personal care and appreciates friendly reminders and encouragement to complete her routines. She requires support with her meal preparation, medication, grocery shopping and household tasks including cooking, cleaning and laundry.
You will need a sound understanding of risk management to maintain appropriate structures and boundaries that will enable you to support this young lady to reach her goals. Person-centred training will be provided.
Shifts are typically 10am one day until 10am the following day, with a sleep over shift from 11pm – 7am included. There are also day shifts, waking nights and weekends. We’re looking for people who can be as flexible as possible to work a combination of shifts. At Dimensions, we value a healthy work / life balance so you will receive your rota 4 weeks in advance.
If you have any further questions and would like to discuss the role in more detail, please call Lauren on 07943 713 039.
