About the role
This is a truly unique opportunity to support one gentleman in his late fifties, living in his own supported living bungalow in Metheringham. You will be providing 1:1 support, building a strong, trusting relationship and really getting to know what matters most to him.
Your role will be to provide consistent, person-centred support that helps him feel safe, understood and in control. It is important that you are calm, resilient, and able to respond confidently if he becomes upset or frustrated.
Day-to-day, you will support him with maintaining his independence, from prompting with personal care and supporting with meal preparation, to helping him enjoy the things he loves. He has a fantastic sense of humour and enjoys getting out into his local community on his mobility scooter, going for meals or a drink, watching horror films, listening to heavy metal music, and heading off on caravan holidays.
He values honest, open relationships and can sometimes test boundaries to get a reaction, so it is important that you are confident, emotionally resilient, and able to remain professional whilst building a genuine, positive connection.
You will be working long day shifts (typically 8am–8pm or 8am–11pm with a sleep-in), as part of a rolling rota that includes every other weekend and at least one sleep-in per week. Support is delivered in a consistent and person-centred way, giving you the time to truly make an impact.
A manual UK driving licence is essential, as you will be driving his vehicle to support him to access the community.
About you
You do not need previous experience; we will provide all the training and support you need but you do need to share our values.
You will be someone who is naturally patient, kind, and reliable, with the ability to stay calm and grounded in all situations. You will enjoy building relationships and will not shy away from honest conversations, even when topics may feel challenging or unexpected.
You will understand the importance of treating people with dignity and respect, while also being able to set boundaries and respond consistently. A good sense of humour and a positive outlook will go a long way in this role, as well as the ability to see the person beyond their history.
Above all, you will believe in supporting people to live life on their own terms, with choice, independence, and the right support around them.
