About the roleWe’re looking for a caring, creative and compassionate Female Support Worker to join our friendly and energetic team in Reading (RG2), supporting four ladies aged 30s–50s with learning disabilities and epilepsy.
This is a warm, active and structured home, where communication goes beyond words. The ladies express themselves through gestures, sounds and expressions — and you’ll play a key role in helping them feel heard, understood and supported every day.
Who you will be supportingThe ladies you’ll support live full and meaningful lives, supported by strong routines and relationships. They have a wide range of interests and enjoy:
- Shopping, cinema trips and meals out
- Swimming and local sports activities
- Festivals, celebrations and family visits
- Music, sensory activities and quiet relaxation
- Day trips, local outings and even holidays abroad
Support needs include:- Personal care
- Hoist use (for one individual)
- Wheelchair support (two full-time, one in the community)
- Support with eating and meal preparation
- Medication administration
This is a lively home full of personality, humour and warmth.
What you will be doingYou’ll provide consistent, person-centred support, helping each individual live safely, confidently and with choice. Your role will include:
- Supporting daily routines and personal care
- Preparing meals and supporting healthy lifestyles
- Administering medication safely
- Supporting communication through gestures, expressions and cues
- Using hoists and supporting mobility (training provided)
- Driving the service vehicle to activities and appointments
- Supporting community access, swimming and outings
- Supporting budgeting, shopping and household tasks
- Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
- Creating meaningful, enjoyable experiences every day
Shift patternsThis is a 37.5-hour role, worked across:
- 7:00am – 2:00pm
- 2:00pm – 9:00pm
- Alternate weekends
- Optional sleep-ins: 10:00pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)
Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work–life balance.
