About Dimensions
Dimensions is a values-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to live meaningful lives. We’re proud to be a sector leader, using our evidence-based Activate support model to help people build independence, develop skills, and make choices that matter to them. Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do. We offer high-quality training, clear development opportunities, and an inclusive culture where people feel supported, valued, and able to make a real difference every day.
About the Role
We are looking for two Female Support Workers to provide 1:1 support to an active and independent woman in her 70s who lives in her own supported living home. She enjoys a full and active lifestyle and is looking for a Support Worker who can support her to continue doing the things she loves. Her interests include knitting, cross stitch, sewing, baking, music and singing, especially anything related to Elton John. She regularly attends community activities and enjoys staying busy, as well as keeping her home clean, tidy and organised.
You'll support her with day-to-day living, including meal preparation, medication administration, personal care and maintaining her home. She requires support with bathing and personal hygiene, while encouraging her independence wherever possible. Family is very important to her and you'll help her maintain strong relationships with her sisters, brother-in-law and nieces through regular visits and daily phone calls.
We're looking for someone who is patient, dependable and shares a genuine passion for helping people live fulfilling lives. If you enjoy supporting people's independence and perhaps even know your way around a pair of knitting needles, this could be the perfect role for you.
Shifts: This role involves working a rolling rota of 7.5-hour shifts: 7:30am to 3:00pm and 2:30pm to 10:00pm. There are no sleep-ins or waking nights required, although you will be expected to work every other weekend and participate in the bank holiday rota.
About You
We're looking for someone who is caring, patient and committed to helping people live great lives. You'll be passionate about promoting independence, encouraging choice and recognising what people can do for themselves. You'll be a good listener, able to build positive relationships with the people you support, their families and colleagues, and be comfortable adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
You don't need previous experience in care, but you should share our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect and have a genuine desire to make a difference. We'll provide all the training and support you need to become a successful Support Worker.
