About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Lead Support Worker to join our Bath service on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You’ll work alongside a warm, skilled team supporting eight adults (six men and two women) aged 40–60 with complex health needs.

As a Lead Support Worker, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the people we support receive high-quality, person-centred care. Working closely with your Locality Manager and Assistant Locality Manager, you’ll be supported while also becoming a trusted guide and role model for your colleagues. This role blends hands-on support with leadership, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

Your work will be varied and rewarding. You’ll help people build independence, develop new skills and make choices that reflect the life they want to live. Using approaches such as Activate and Active Support, you’ll set meaningful goals and recognise the potential in everyday moments.

You’ll support with daily routines — including personal care, medication, PEG feeding, meal preparation, shopping and maintaining a comfortable home — ensuring each person feels respected, involved and safe. You’ll also follow Speech & Language Therapy (SALT) guidance to support safe feeding and effective communication.

Alongside direct support, you’ll play a key part in mentoring and coaching Support Workers. You’ll share good practice, offer thoughtful feedback, support continuous improvement and help foster a positive, inclusive team culture.

Building strong relationships with families, healthcare professionals and colleagues is central to this role, as is understanding and respecting cultural needs, including dietary requirements for people from Muslim backgrounds.

If you’re someone who leads with kindness, enjoys empowering others and finds purpose in helping people live fulfilling lives, you’ll feel valued and inspired in this role.

About you

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Lead with empathy, confidence and a genuine desire to help people live the lives they choose
  • Bring a calm, positive and steady approach to supporting both colleagues and the people we support
  • Are motivated by making a meaningful difference and empowering others to grow
  • Enjoy balancing hands-on support with mentoring and guiding team members
  • Communicate clearly, offer constructive feedback and naturally lead by example
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families, colleagues and the people we support
  • Work in a way that is inclusive, respectful and person-centred
  • Are open to learning, adaptable and committed to good, consistent practice
  • Value being part of a collaborative team where ideas and contributions matter
  • Are reliable, flexible and willing to work weekends and bank holidays when needed
  • Stay calm under pressure and make thoughtful, confident decisions

Experience with complex care, PEG feeding or Positive Behaviour Support is beneficial, but full training will be provided.
