– Current Support Worker

If you enjoy building genuine relationships, bringing energy and positivity to your work, and helping someone live a full and active life, this could be the perfect role for you.

About the role

We're looking for a confident, proactive and friendly Male Support Worker to join our team in Worcester (WR5), supporting a gentleman in his late 20s with a learning disability, cerebral palsy, severe anxiety and possible autism.

This is a highly personalised 1:1 support role, where building trust, understanding routines and providing reassurance are key to helping him thrive. He communicates without words but expresses himself clearly through gestures, humour and his personality.

He enjoys:

  • Attending day centres three times a week
  • Weekly visits with his mum
  • Disco nights and rock school
  • Walks, parks and being outdoors
  • Meeting new people and socialising
  • Laughing, joking and building relationships

He is happiest when active and engaged. At times, he can become anxious during transitions or when plans change, so someone who is calm, observant and able to provide positive distraction and reassurance will be a great fit.

Support includes:

  • Supporting daily routines and providing structure
  • Meal preparation and household tasks
  • Medication administration
  • Gentle prompting with personal care
  • Supporting mobility and wheelchair use
  • Attending activities and appointments
  • Encouraging independence and confidence
  • Using proactive approaches to reduce anxiety and behaviours of distress
  • Building positive relationships with family members

Family involvement is important, with regular visits from his mum and ongoing communication with those closest to him.

Shifts:

  • 2:00pm – 2:00pm (following day, includes sleep-in)
  • 3:00pm – 10:00am (includes sleep-in)
  • Sleep-ins: 10:00pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)

Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.

About you

You'll be a great fit if you're:

  • Confident, friendly and able to build rapport quickly
  • Calm, patient and reassuring
  • Active and happy to get involved in community activities
  • Observant and able to recognise signs of anxiety
  • Someone with a good sense of humour
  • Positive, reliable and person-centred
  • Comfortable supporting independence and emotional wellbeing
  • A driver with your own vehicle and a full UK driving licence

Experience is helpful but not essential — we'll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.
