About Dimensions

Dimensions is one of the UK's leading not-for-profit organisations, supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs to live independent lives. Our Specialist Forensic Services help people move forward from secure or restrictive environments, building the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to thrive in their communities. At Dimensions, we believe in supporting people to achieve their goals, learn new skills and live the life they choose, with person-centred support at the heart of everything we do.

About the role

  • Relief (Bank) Support Worker
  • Wallington, Sutton (South London/Surrey)
  • £14.15 per hour

We're currently looking for resilient and values-driven Relief Support Workers to join our specialist forensic support team in Wallington. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a gentleman in his 60s who has learning disabilities and a forensic history. You will provide 1:1 support to a gentleman who enjoys being active, spending time in the community and exploring London. While he is fairly independent in some aspects of daily life, he requires consistent, positive support to build confidence, develop skills and achieve his goals.

Support may include:

  • Supporting him to be part of and present in their local community.
  • Encouraging independence and helping him learn new skills.
  • Supporting with cooking, cleaning and maintaining his home.
  • Attending health and medical appointments.
  • Following person-centred support plans and risk management strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider support team to put plans into action.

Shift Patterns- This home provides 24-hour support, including 9:00am - 11:00pm, sleep-in with morning support the following day 7:00am - 9:00am. Relief colleagues provide flexible cover across the home and may occasionally work in other specialist services, including opportunities within our Enfield float team.

Due to the specialist nature of this home, successful applicants must be able to commit to mandatory training, including 3 consecutive weekday forensic induction days, Support Worker induction training, service-specific training and shadow shifts and the completion of workbooks and competency assessments. Please note that training is delivered during weekdays rather than weekends. Ample notice will be provided to support attendance.

About you

We're interested in people who:

  • Share Dimensions' values of ambition, courage, integrity, partnership and respect.
  • Are compassionate and caring towards people with learning disabilities.
  • Believe in helping people do things for themselves rather than doing everything for them.
  • Have patience and a positive attitude when supporting someone to learn new skills.
  • Are confident following support plans and encouraging independence.
  • Are reliable, flexible and committed to providing high-quality support.
  • Are willing to learn and embrace specialist training.

Previous experience as a Support Worker is beneficial but not essential. Full training will be provided.
