About the role
Join our team in a rewarding 1:1 support role where you'll be supporting a gentleman in his 60s to live life on his own terms and enjoy the things that matter most to him.
We're looking for Support Workers who can help maintain this positive environment by building a trusting relationship and respecting his need for personal space and independence. Taking the time to understand his preferences, routines and communication style will be key to providing great support.
You'll support him with daily living tasks, personal care, mobility assistance and helping him stay safe and well. He uses a wheelchair and adapted bath, and while he can often weight-bear, there may be occasions where you'll need to use specialist equipment, including a hoist. You'll also receive specialist training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help you confidently support him when he experiences periods of distress.
The most rewarding part of the role is helping him enjoy the activities he loves. On his best days, you might support him to attend a Cardiff City match, go bowling, visit Pedal Power, enjoy a drive in his car, or spend time at the train station watching the world go by. He enjoys light-hearted banter, has a great sense of humour, and appreciates support from people who are patient, proactive and happy to follow his lead.
Shifts: 9am-3pm/3pm-9pm/3pm-11pm with a sleep in then 7am-3pm the next day (1 sleep shift per week)

You don't need previous experience in care, just the right values. We're looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable, and passionate about helping others live fulfilling lives.

Basic IT skills are required, as you'll use digital systems to complete training and record support notes.
