About the role

You'll be supporting a gentleman with a learning disability and autism to live a happy, fulfilling life in his own home. He receives 1:1 support at home and 2:1 support when accessing the community, helping him feel confident, safe and able to enjoy the things that matter most to him.

He has a unique personality and a range of interests that make spending time with him both rewarding and enjoyable. He is a huge Star Wars fan and loves listening to music. One of his favourite pastimes is writing number patterns, an activity he finds both relaxing and engaging and can happily enjoy for hours.

Family is incredibly important to him, particularly his relationship with his mum, who plays a central role in his life. Supporting him to maintain regular contact with her is an important part of providing person-centred support.

Consistency and routine are also key to his wellbeing. He thrives when his days are structured and predictable, so we're looking for someone who understands the importance of providing reliable support, building trust, and taking the time to get to know what matters most to him.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, understanding and enjoys building meaningful relationships while supporting someone to live life in the way that works best for them.

What do I need to know?

This gentleman thrives with consistent, structured support and benefits from a team who are attentive, proactive and able to think ahead. Understanding his routines, preferences and environment is key to providing the support he needs to feel safe and comfortable.

He has a fascination with the sound of breaking glass and may occasionally attempt to damage items within reach. Because of this, maintaining a safe and well-managed environment is an important part of the role. We'll provide you with the training, guidance and support plans needed to help you do this confidently.

What will I be doing?

You'll play a key role in supporting him both at home and out in the community, helping him enjoy the activities he loves while maintaining the routines that are important to him.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing person-centred support at home and in the community
  • Encouraging participation in his favourite activities and interests
  • Promoting independence, choice and wellbeing
  • Following positive support strategies and established routines
  • Creating a safe, structured and positive environment
  • Working closely with colleagues and family members to provide consistent support
