We are recruiting Support Workers for 9-month Fixed Term Contracts (FTC), offering 7.5-hour to 22.5 hour contracts. You will be supporting six people (three men and three women) who live in individual flats within one building. They are lively, sociable, and enjoy being active in their community. While their permanent address is Canvey Island, the home is temporarily relocating to Southend-on-Sea for a period of 1 year. Once the move back to Canvey takes place, there may also be opportunities to work in a nearby home in Rochford.

The people you will support enjoy:

  • Shopping trips, community groups, local clubs, coffee mornings and social events.
  • Attending the Hadleigh training centre, going to the gym, and taking part in local activities.
  • Theatre trips, holidays, gardening, and group events in their summer house.

Your role will focus on helping people live life their way. This includes:

  • Supporting with daily living and personal care where needed.
  • Promoting independence, most people manage their own medication with minimal support.
  • Assisting with planning, shopping for, and preparing meals.
  • Encouraging individuals to stay connected and involved in their community.
  • Supporting two people who use mobility frames and one who may need a wheelchair for longer distances.
  • Communicating with relatives and supporting strong family relationships.

Shift pattern can be 7:00am – 2:30pm, 2:30pm – 10:00pm, alternate weekends and additional personalised 1:1 hours may be scheduled depending on individual needs.

A driving licence is not essential, though it may be beneficial.
