£12.81 per hour + £50 per sleep-in shift

About the role
We’re looking for a confident, compassionate Support Worker to join our team in RG40, supporting a young gentleman in his 30s with complex learning disabilities and epilepsy.
This is a 1:1 lone-working role, where building a strong, trusting relationship is key. You’ll support him to live a full and meaningful life, following structured routines and enjoying a wide range of activities.
He may not use words to communicate, but he is expressive, engaging and responds warmly to positive, consistent support.

He’s an active and sociable individual who enjoys:
- Swimming (essential activity)
- Listening to music
- Comedy shows and filmsAttending church on Sundays
- Coffee mornings on Fridays
Your support will help him stay connected to the things he loves and maintain a fulfilling daily routine.
What you will be doing
You’ll play a key role in providing safe, person-centred support, including:
- Providing personal care and using hoists
- Supporting a wheelchair user with mobility and comfort
- Preparing meals and administering medication (including Buccal)
- Monitoring safety and wellbeing throughout long shifts
- Supporting structured routines and daily activities
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with him and his family
- Encouraging engagement, independence and confidence
Shift patterns
This is a 30-hour role, with shifts including:
- 7:00am – 7:00am (following day) – includes sleep-in
- Sleep-in: 9:30pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)
Rotas are provided in advance to support work–life balance.
About you
You’ll be a great fit if you are:
- Experienced in health and social care, especially lone working
- Confident, calm and able to work independently
- Friendly, approachable and positive
- Organised and reliable
- Comfortable supporting personal care and using hoists
- Confident administering medication (training provided)
- Someone with a good sense of humour
- A driver (auto-friendly)
