Dimensions is proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work year after year.

About the role

We’re looking for a calm, patient and compassionate Female Support Worker to join our service in SN16, supporting two adults in their 50s (a brother and sister) with learning disabilities.

This is a unique and rewarding role where you’ll provide 1:1 support in a warm, homely environment. The individuals have very different personalities and needs, so the ability to adapt your approach is essential.

You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, structured and positive environment where both individuals can feel comfortable, supported and empowered.

Who you will be supporting

You’ll support a brother and sister with very different lifestyles and preferences:

  • Lady: Outgoing, vibrant and sociable — enjoys holidays (especially Butlins), getting out and about and engaging in activities
  • Gentleman: Prefers calm, quiet environments — enjoys trains, public transport and structured routines. He can find busy social settings overwhelming

Support needs include:

  • Personal care
  • Medication administration
  • Support with diet and portion control
  • Emotional support and behaviour management (training provided)

This is a role where understanding each person’s preferences and delivering truly personalised support is key.

What you will be doing

You’ll provide consistent, person-centred support, including:

  • Supporting daily routines and independence
  • Providing personal care with dignity and respect
  • Supporting meal preparation and dietary management
  • Administering medication
  • Supporting community activities and outings
  • Adapting your approach to suit individual needs and moods
  • Promoting calm, structured and safe environments
  • Building strong, trusting relationships

Shift patterns

Flexible shift patterns are available, including:

  • Day shifts: 9:00am – 3:00pm / 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Long day + sleep-in: 9:00am – 9:00am (next day)
  • Evening + sleep-in: 5:00pm – 9:00am (next day)
  • Sleep-ins: 10:00pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)

Rotas are provided in advance to support work–life balance.

About you

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Calm, patient and emotionally aware
  • Able to provide a quiet, reassuring presence
  • Firm but fair in your approach
  • Adaptable to different personalities and support needs
  • A strong relationship builder
  • Reliable and consistent
  • Comfortable working in a homely, personalised setting
  • A confident auto driver

Experience supporting behaviours of distress is beneficial, but full training will be provided.

Family involvement

While day-to-day support is delivered by the team, maintaining a consistent, respectful and person-centred approach is essential to overall wellbeing.
