About the role

We’re looking for compassionate, calm and patient Female Support Workers to join our team in Tipton (DY4), supporting one lady in her 60s with a learning disability and mobility needs.

This is a 1:1 support role in a personalised setting, where your focus will be on building trust, providing reassurance and supporting day-to-day wellbeing. We currently have two positions available, with flexibility for relief/bank work.

You’ll play a key role in supporting her to feel safe, comfortable and supported within her daily routines.

Who you will be supporting

You’ll support a lady who:

  • Enjoys watching TV, especially soaps
  • Likes to spend time out and about, particularly in warmer weather
  • Is still exploring and developing her routines and preferences

She can experience periods of distress, so a calm, reassuring and empathetic approach is essential.

Family is actively involved, with her sister and brother visiting regularly, so building positive relationships is key.

What you will be doing

You’ll provide personalised, person-centred support, including:

  • Providing personal care with dignity and respect
  • Supporting mobility, including hoisting
  • Supporting daily routines and structure
  • Preparing meals and supporting nutrition
  • Administering medication
  • Offering reassurance during periods of distress
  • Building a strong, trusting relationship
  • Supporting brief drop-in visits to assist with hoisting

Shift patterns

Flexible shifts available, including:

  • 8:00am – 1:00pm
  • 12:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Long day + sleep-in: 5:00pm – 9:00am (next day)
  • Sleep-in: 11:00pm – 7:00am (£50 paid to sleep)

Additional short support visits:

  • 8:00am – 9:00am
  • 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • 5:00pm – 6:00pm

These help support hoisting and transitions throughout the day.

About you

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Calm, patient and emotionally supportive
  • Compassionate and empathetic
  • Confident and reassuring in your approach
  • Comfortable supporting personal care and hoisting
  • A good communicator who builds strong relationships
  • Reliable, consistent and attentive
  • Comfortable working 1:1 in a supportive environment

Experience is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided.

Family involvement

Family members are regularly involved, so maintaining respectful, open communication is an important part of the role.
