About the Role

  • Support Worker
  • Full time/ Permanent – 37.5 hours per week
  • £13.96 per hour
  • Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14

We are seeking an experienced Support Worker to join our Complex Support locality in Stowmarket.

This role will primarily involve supporting one gentleman who has complex support needs. You will be central to helping him live a life that is meaningful, safe, and fulfilling, while building a consistent and trusting relationship that enables him to achieve his personal goals and aspirations.

You will also be flexible to cover across three additional complex supported living homes within the Stowmarket area when required. This offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled team, broaden your experience, and make a positive impact across our wider locality.

Our complex support homes support people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with complex health needs, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and people who may experience behaviours of distress. Using Positive Behaviour Support approach, you will seek to understand what a person is communicating through their behaviour, build trusting relationships, reduce barriers and sources of distress, and support people to have greater choice and control over their lives.

No two days are the same, but responsibilities may include:

  • Providing specialist, person-centred support tailored to individual needs.
  • Building positive, consistent relationships based on trust and respect.
  • Supporting people to develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
  • Recognising and responding proactively to behaviours of distress.
  • Supporting community involvement, hobbies, and interests.
  • Assisting with personal care, medication, nutrition, and health appointments when required.
  • Working collaboratively with families, health professionals, and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.

About You

Due to the specialist nature of this role, previous experience supporting people with behaviours of distress and complex support needs is essential.

You will be:

  • Experienced in supporting people who may experience behaviours of distress.
  • Calm, patient, and able to remain resilient in challenging situations.
  • A strong communicator who can adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Committed to delivering truly person-centred support.
  • Able to work flexibly across multiple homes within the locality.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Confident using digital systems for support recording and communication.

Most importantly, you will share our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership, and Respect, and be passionate about helping people achieve great outcomes.
