About the role

We're recruiting Support Workers to support four people in their home in Barnsley. Whether you're experienced in care or looking for a brand-new career, we'll provide all the training and support you need to succeed, including working towards your Care Certificate and further development opportunities.

You'll be supporting individual's with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), complex health needs, personal care requirements, and moving and assisting needs. Each individual has their own unique personality, interests, and support requirements, and you'll play a vital role in helping them live fulfilling, meaningful lives.

This is a hands-on role that involves supporting people with all aspects of daily living, whilst promoting dignity, independence, choice, and wellbeing.

Your Day-to-Day

No two days are the same, but your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing person-centred support with personal care, health needs, and mobility.
  • Supporting individuals on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis throughout their daily lives.
  • Helping people access and enjoy their local community, build meaningful relationships, and maintain social connections.
  • Supporting attendance at appointments, activities, and events that are important to each individual.
  • Enabling individuals to participate in hobbies, sensory activities, and experiences that meet their sensory needs and preferences.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, medication administration, household tasks, and maintaining a safe home environment.
  • Working closely with colleagues, families, and professionals to ensure the highest quality of support is provided.

Most importantly, you'll help create opportunities for people to achieve their goals, experience new things, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Shifts:

Shift patterns will be discussed at interview and will vary depending on the ladies' activities, routines, and commitments. Typical shifts may include:

07:00 – 14.30
14-00 - 21.00
14.30 – 22:00 Plus sleep in (22.00-7.00)
07:00 – 22:00
22:00 – 07:00 (Waking Night)
