About the role 

  • Waking Night Support Worker
  • Full time – 37.5 hours per week (4 nights one week / 3 nights the next)
  • Acle, NR13

We’re looking for a calm, caring, and attentive Waking Night Support Worker to support a gentleman in his 60s who lives independently in his own home in Acle, Norfolk.

He requires full overnight support to ensure he remains comfortable, safe, and well throughout the night. This is a waking night role where your presence and attentiveness are essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing reassurance and regular checks throughout the night.
  • Positioning and repositioning hourly to maintain comfort and wellbeing.
  • PEG feeding and PEG medication administration (nil by mouth).
  • Moving and assisting, including hoisting to bed (working as part of a two-person team).
  • Completing household tasks as required overnight.
  • Supporting with full personal care in the morning before handover.

Although he doesn’t use words to communicate, he enjoys being spoken to and responds warmly with smiles, eye contact, and the occasional “yeah”. He engages well with visual choices and values calm, friendly interaction.

He loves:

  • Tractors and people-watching
  • Listening to music (especially brass bands)
  • Puzzles and being engaged with
  • Going out in his car

You’ll be supporting him 4 nights one week, 3 nights the next, covering Saturday and Sunday nights every other week. Availability for weekday training and induction is essential.

About you

You don’t need previous care experience, we’ll provide full, paid training but you’ll need:

  • A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
  • The confidence to provide hands-on personal care support.
  • The ability to remain alert and attentive throughout waking night shifts.
  • A genuine interest in building positive, respectful relationships.
