I am looking for a caring and empathetic person to join my small team as a Support Worker. I’m a young woman in my 30’s with Cerebral palsy, Learning Disability and Epilepsy and wish to employ a new staff member to enable me to live independently.

My support team are hardworking and ask me each day what my choices are, they also make sure that I am happy. I’m a very sociable person and like to be with my family and support team. I’m looking for Support Workers who have a similar personality and enjoy travelling, cooking/baking, going out and socialising, playing snap, crafting, swimming, and bowling.

What people like and admire about me

  • I am always smiling and having a laugh.
  • I love life and like to make everyone's day happy.
  • I am always keen to talk to people out in the community and love communicating with people.
  • I adore my family and love spending time with them at the weekends.
  • I have a wicked sense of humour.

How to support me well

  • Explain everything you are doing as I might get worried if I don't know what is going on.
  • Although I can't reply with words, I understand everything you say to me and can communicate yes or no.
  • It is important you talk to me rather than at me or about me.
  • Have a good sense of humour and have a laugh with me.
  • I may ask you to repeat yourself, so I know I have understood what you have said.
  • Make sure all my needs are met, especially lots of cups of tea!

What’s important to me

  • People being kind and respectful to me is very important as I am always kind to others.
  • Seeing my family is very important, my Mum, Dad and Auntie live next door and I like to see them often. Dad giving me cheesy puffs and Auntie giving me a cup of tea is crucial!
  • Chocolate is extremely important, I am always up for having chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate buttons and chocolate mousses!
  • Getting out in the community is important, I love going bowling and swimming, and I like going to other places during the week.
  • Listening to music, specifically Heart FM either on the radio or via my Alexa

If you can empower, encourage, and respect my right to make my own decisions about how I want to be supported, and are willing to learn new skills, I’d like to hear from you!
