Who Will You Be Supporting?

You’ll be providing 1:1 support to six gentlemen aged 30s-60s, each living in their own flats. These individuals live full, active lives, but they require consistent support and structure to thrive. Here’s more about them:

  • Active & Independent: They enjoy getting out and about, whether it’s walking, exercising in the garden, or going swimming every week.
  • Passionate About Life: They love trips to the cinema, shopping, cleaning, and cooking with support. Each of them is working toward greater independence and learning new skills along the way.
  • Travel Enthusiasts: They love going on 2-3 holidays a year, especially to log cabins with hot tubs, which help them relax.
  • Social & Fun-Loving: They enjoy meeting new people, engaging in social activities, and having a laugh. With a love for ‘80s dance music and plenty of banter, they bring a lot of energy to their home.
  • Routine-Driven: Maintaining clear routines and managing anxieties around safety is key to providing them with a sense of security.
  • Family Driven: Family involvement is important to them too, with regular visits to mum every fortnight.

You will also need to provide emotional reassurance when experiencing behaviours of distress – full positive behaviour support training is provided.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Support Worker, your role will involve creating a structured, safe, and engaging environment for these gentlemen. Your responsibilities include:

  • Personal Care & Independence: Provide personal care as needed and help the individuals develop skills in cooking, cleaning, and other daily tasks.
  • Community Engagement: Support them on outings and activities, providing 2:1 support in the community. Trips may include swimming, cinema visits, or even going on holiday!
  • Behavioural Support: Follow detailed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and use your SCIP-r and behaviour support training to help manage behaviours of distress and anxiety.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Recognize and address potential triggers before they escalate, offering calm, consistent support.
  • Encouragement & Motivation: Help them build trust and confidence, promoting a proactive approach to their well-being and personal development.

Shift Patterns

  • Day Shifts: 7am-9pm / 8:30am-9:30pm
  • Sleep-In Shifts: 10:30pm-7:30am (Paid to Sleep)
  • Weekend Rotations: Alternate weekends off

Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work life balence - You’ll also have the chance to earn overtime by supporting other gentlemen in the house.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We’re looking for someone who can blend a calm, laid-back approach with a strong sense of professionalism and attention to detail. Here's what will make you a perfect match:

  • Calm & Focused: You’re patient, resilient, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Structured & Routine-Oriented: You can follow detailed support plans to the letter and pick up on early signs of potential behaviours of distress.
  • Reliable & Punctual: You have a strong sense of responsibility and ensure the individuals you support feel secure in your care.
  • Team Player & Proactive Thinker: You’re able to work well with the team, listen to experienced colleagues, and act confidently and professionally in all situations.
  • Driver: A manual driving licence is essential as you’ll be supporting individuals with community trips using one of the six cars available at the house.
