Are you proactive, compassionate, and ready to make a real difference? We’re looking for a dedicated Support Worker to join our friendly team in Kidderminster, supporting four incredible gentlemen aged 30 to 65 with a range of needs including learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, diabetes, and visual impairments.

Who Will You Be Supporting?

You’ll be supporting four men who are full of personality and enjoy a structured, social lifestyle. Their interests include:

  • Music & Films: Especially “The Music Man” and classic movies.
  • Arts & Crafts & Sensory Activities: Including sensory books and a local sensory story club.
  • Food & Social Outings: Trips out for meals and visits to local parks and open spaces.
  • Routines & Chats: They thrive on structure, love a good chat, and enjoy a laugh with staff.

Each individual has unique communication styles, and two are blind, so being attentive and patient is key. Family involvement is present, mostly through phone calls.

What Will You Be Doing?

Your role will include a mix of shared and 1:1 support, with 3 staff on in the mornings and 2 in the evenings. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Personal Care: Supporting individuals with full personal care.
  • Community Support: Assisting with outings and activities (two use wheelchairs in the community).
  • Meal Preparation: Supporting healthy eating and preparing meals.
  • Medication Administration: Including support with epilepsy medication (training provided).
  • Daily Living Skills: Helping with household tasks, routines, and promoting independence.
  • Emotional Support: Building trust, reading for additional signs of communication as some of the gents do not use words to speak, and encouraging engagement.

Shift Patterns:

  • Morning: 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Afternoon/Evening: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (with sleep-in)
  • Additional Support: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM and 1:30 PM – 9:00 PM shifts also available
  • Sleep-Ins: Paid at £50 per shift
  • Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.

What Are We Looking For?

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Outgoing & Proactive: Brings fresh ideas and encourages new experiences.
  • Excellent Communicator: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to read expressions and sounds.
  • Patient & Observant: Willing to take the time to understand each individual’s needs.
  • Organised & Punctual: Reliable and detail-oriented.
  • Team Player: Works well with others and contributes to a positive environment.

Manual drivers are essential due to the rural location and limited public transport. The home has three manual vehicles for outings and appointments.
