Seeking Support Workers for two fabulous gentlemen in Loughor SA4 6RB

  • Part-time hours (minimum 22.5 hours per week)
  • £12.00 per hour.   Sleep nights are paid at £50.00 per night
  • Shifts available:   Days -7am - 3pm / 2pm - 10pm, evenings, sleep-ins (1 – 2 per week), alternate weekends (sleep shifts are paid at a rate of £45 per night).
  • It is essential that you hold a full UK or EU Driving Licence  as the people you will be supporting ask that you are able to drive their mobility vehicles.

We are looking for proactive, engaging and caring people to join a close-knit support team in Loughor supporting two gentlemen, with learning disabilities, to live their best lives - the lives that they choose to live.

Meet “Aiden”

“Aiden” is a gentleman in his mid-40s who is excitedly searching for an upbeat, confident, patient, and resilient person to support him in living his best life – the life that he chooses to live.

“Aiden” enjoys getting out and about as often as he can; whether that’s popping into town, going away on day trips, or spending time with his pets out in his garden. “Aiden” also loves arts and crafts, listening to music, and taking part in sensory-based activities; he even has his own sensory room where he likes to go when he’d like space and time on his own. “Aiden” and his family are very close, and he always looks forward to his weekly catch up calls with his mum.

It's important to note that “Aiden” can often go days without communicating verbally, then days where he’ll talk non-stop! Also, “Aiden” quite often demonstrates behaviours of distress (as he can get very, very anxious) and can sometimes react physically to those occasions of heightened stress. Therefore, it’s crucial that his new friend (because at Dimensions, this is more than just a job; our relationships with the people we support always blossom into genuine, life-long relationships), is strong, courageous, compelling, and assured enough to help him through these times.

Meet “Aaron”

“Aaron” is a gentleman in his early 70s who lives next door to “Aiden” in their home’s annex. He is eagerly awaiting someone calm, quiet, and warm-hearted to support him with living a happy, comfortable life.

As you can appreciate, “Aaron’s” pace of life is now very slow and serene; you’ll often find him spending leisure time in his garden, looking after his pet chickens. He also adores boats and thoroughly enjoys day trips to marinas, and he also loves steam trains; he’ll love it if you join him on the computer-generated train journeys he accesses on his 40” tablet. Another of “Aaron’s” passions is listening to vintage musicians, like Vera Lynn and Doris Day, and before the Covid pandemic, “Aaron” used to enjoy going out to retro Wartime Tea Dances! One event each month that “Aaron” really looks forward to is going out for a pint and a meal, and to people watch.

When it comes to enjoying television, “Aaron’s” favourite programmes are Morcambe and Wise, and Only Fools & Horses, and his favourite types of movies are westerns and any film with Laurel and Hardy in.

It's important to note that “Aaron” can sometimes be quite stalwart (especially when it comes to mealtimes); he has dementia (his doors must be always locked) and he always communicates non-verbally. He’ll therefore require your attentive, deferential support with all aspects of his personal care, and when out and about your support with mobility assistance as he will use a wheelchair.

Every day will be different, and rewarding, as you encourage and empower “Aiden” and “Aaron” to be actively engaged in every aspect of their daily lives.  You will also provide support with daily living skills, medication, personal care and mobility assistance, as required.

At Dimensions, we believe it is who you are as a person – and the difference you can bring to lives of the people you will be supporting – that is more important than experience. Whether you are new to support work, or have supported people previously, we want to hear from you!   We will give you all the training you need to be become an amazing support worker for the people you will be working with.   You will find no other role more personally fulfilling, and professionally rewarding, than becoming a Support Worker with Dimensions.
