Who Will You Be Supporting?
You’ll be working with a dedicated and friendly team, supporting four wonderful individuals (two men and two women) aged 40s-70s. They live with learning disabilities, autism, and some mental health needs. Each resident is unique, and they love leading fun, fulfilling lives.
- Active & Social: They enjoy watching movies (with a collection of thousands of DVDs!), listening to music, and spending time together in and out of the house. They also love going shopping, getting their nails done at the salon, and taking holidays to Blackpool and other parts of the UK.
- Mobility Support: One lady is a full-time wheelchair user and requires hoisting support. The other lady and one gentleman use wheelchairs when out in the community but are more independent at home.
Family is very important to the residents, and building strong relationships with their loved ones is a key part of this role.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Support Worker, your role will be varied, meaningful, and full of opportunities to make a positive impact. Your responsibilities will include:
- Empowering Independence: Help residents live their lives the way they choose—whether it's making decisions about meals, shopping trips, or choosing a movie for the evening.
- Daily Living Support: Assist with personal care for one lady and occasional support for the others, along with meal preparation, medication administration, and general housekeeping.
- Mobility Assistance: You’ll provide hoisting for one resident and support with wheelchair use for two others when out and about.
- Engagement in Activities: Join them for their favourite activities—whether that’s a movie marathon, a music session, or a shopping trip. Encouraging them to stay active and engaged is key.
- Building Relationships: Foster strong connections with the residents and their families, ensuring that everyone feels supported and valued.
Shift Patterns:
- Sleep-In Shifts: 11pm - 6am (paid to sleep)
- Day Shifts: 8am - 3:30pm / 1pm - 9pm
- Flexible Shifts: Some shifts carry over from sleep-ins, ensuring variety and balance.
Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.
