Join Our Team as a Support Worker

  • Support Worker
  • 12 hours per week (1 long day or two shorter shifts)
  • £12.00 per hour.
  • A Full UK driving licence with business insurance and access to a car is essential for this role.

Are you looking for a job where no two days are the same? Do you enjoy trains, coffee, and Disney? We’re looking for a Support Worker to support a gentleman in his 30s who lives independently. We need someone who can gently encourage him to step outside his comfort zone while respecting his choices.

A Day in the Life

Your role is all about supporting independence while making life fun! He loves trains, coffee shops, model railways, and days out to places like York Railway Museum, theme parks, the zoo, and the theatre. He’s also a huge fan of YouTube, Disney, and watching TV shows like The Masked Singer—so be prepared to chat about the latest episodes!

However, some days he wakes up feeling unable to follow through with plans. That’s where you come in—helping him navigate his day in a way that works for him. Encouragement, creativity, and patience are key to gently motivating him to take care of himself and his home. He needs support with meals that are easy to eat (as he experiences difficulty with fine motor skills), so you’ll be cooking fresh meals and making sure he’s eating well.

Supporting someone with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) means that everyday tasks—like personal care or housework—can be difficult for him. He may use distraction or delay tactics, so gentle encouragement and creative motivation are key. But when you see him succeed, whether it’s trying a new food, completing a trip out, or keeping on top of household tasks, it’s incredibly rewarding!

What We’re Looking For

We need someone who is adaptable, upbeat, and great at thinking outside the box! You must be a UK driver with your own car and business insurance (we cover the admin fee, but you’ll need to check any additional costs before accepting the role). His family is incredibly involved, and while they pop in often, you’ll be there to help maintain his independence.

Hours & Working Pattern

  • 10 AM - 9 PM (4 days a week) for full days out
  • 10 AM - 2 PM and 6 PM - 10 PM on the other 3 days
  • Includes weekends and bank holidays.
  • No sleep-ins or night shifts!
