Hi, my name is “Ben”.
I’m supported by Dimensions, one of the very few social care organisations accredited by the Great Places to Work programme in 2024. I live in the top end of Lincoln, and I’m looking for a new Support Worker to join my team.
I’m an older gentleman with a big love for Lincoln, where I’ve lived for many years. I enjoy chatting about the places I remember and telling stories from the past. I’ve travelled to many places over the years, and I love sharing those memories. I also have a real passion for aircrafts and airbases, I know a lot about them, so if you share that interest or are willing to learn, we’ll get along fine. Music is a big part of my day too; I like having the radio on and enjoy a good song.
I have a diagnosis of dementia, and I’m severely sight impaired, so I need support with all aspects of my daily life, from personal care and medication to eating, drinking, and keeping my home clean. I use a wheelchair when I go out, but I can walk around my home with support. I’d like someone who can help me make healthy choices with food and menu planning, and who can support me to stay active in my community.
I require support 24/7, including sleep-ins between 10:30pm and 7:30am. The role is for 21.75 hours per week, working on a 4-week rolling rota.
Because of my dementia, I sometimes feel anxious, so I’m looking for someone who’s patient, understanding, and able to communicate clearly. I really appreciate reassurance and gentle support. Once I get to know you, you’ll find I have a great sense of humour and I’m good company.
It’s okay if you don’t love all the things I do, as long as you’re enthusiastic about supporting me to enjoy them, that’s what matters. You might even discover some new interests along the way!
If you share Dimensions’ values, you’ll have the opportunity to meet me, it’s important we’re a good match. You don’t need previous experience as a Support Worker. Dimensions will give you paid, accredited training, a full induction, and ongoing support including 1-to-1s and annual appraisals.
