Hi, I’m Ben — and I’m looking for someone special to join my support team.

I live in Lincoln, and I’m supported by Dimensions, one of the few social care organisations recognised as a Great Place to Work. I’m an older gentleman with a big love for Lincoln, it’s been my home for many years, and I enjoy chatting about the places I remember and sharing stories from the past.

I’ve travelled far and wide over the years, and I’ve got plenty of memories to share. I’m especially passionate about aircraft and airbases, I know a lot about them, so if you’re interested (or curious to learn), we’ll get along well. I also enjoy music and like having the radio on throughout the day.

I live with dementia, and I’m severely sight impaired, so I need support with most aspects of daily life from personal care and medication to eating, drinking, and keeping my home clean. I use a wheelchair when I go out, but I can walk around my home with support. I’d really appreciate someone who can help me make healthy choices with food and menu planning, and who’ll support me to stay active in my community.

I need support 24/7, including sleep-ins between 10:30pm and 7:30am. This role is for 21.75 hours per week, working on a 4-week rolling rota.

Because of my dementia, I sometimes feel anxious so I’m looking for someone who’s calm, patient, and a clear communicator. Reassurance and gentle support go a long way. Once I get to know you, you’ll find I’ve got a great sense of humour and I’m good company.

You don’t have to love all the things I do, what matters is that you’re enthusiastic about helping me enjoy them. You might even discover a few new interests along the way.
