Dimensions Assistant locality Manager Tina Cracknell has featured in a Norfolk County Council video sharing how she found her dream career in the care sector, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
A hardworking mother, former barmaid and former chef, Tina explains how she took the leap to pursue a career that she loves.
“I’ve always been a people person, and I just thought, wow, I just really want to make a change to someone’s life if I can”
Tina always wanted to help people and work in the care sector, but didn’t think it would be possible without the right experience or qualifications.
“I’ve always wanted to get into the care sector. I didn’t think that I was able to because I thought you have to have some sort of experience to get into it, to find out you actually don’t was amazing”
Since starting her career as a support worker Tina shares how she’s been supported to learn everything she needs to know; with access training and qualifications.
“…since working in care, I’m now going through my level three health and social care. They also put me on a management course when I came across, the Dimensions Lead to Succeed, which is really good”
Tina has been enabled to progress in her role and develop a rewarding career working with adults with learning disabilities and autism in a supported living environment.
“Three and half years after I went into the care sector, I’ve become an assistant manager. It just proves if you give anything a go, you can get to where you want to.”
